In-House Laboratory Testing

Diagnostic testing offered at Creature Comforts Veterinary Hospital can identify problems your pet may be experiencing so that proper treatment can begin before a condition worsens.

Overview

Unfortunately, pets can’t tell us where it hurts, and oftentimes, a healthy appearing animal may be masking symptoms of disease or illness. We recommend veterinary diagnostic testing to identify any problems and to begin treatment as early as possible. These tests are especially helpful when symptoms are unspecific or hard to define.

At Creature Comforts Veterinary Hospital we have an in-house lab for your pet’s diagnostic needs. We can complete a variety of testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, ear/ skin testing, cytology / biopsy, and fecal testing. Our veterinarians will recommend diagnostics based on your furry family member's specific symptoms and medical history.

When Would Laboratory Testing Be Needed For My Pet?

Most laboratory work is recommended during routine wellness exams. Our veterinarians recommend these tests to assess your pet’s health. If any concerns or conditions are found, we will help you decide on proper treatment.

For urgent or sick visits, our in-house diagnostic lab allows us to run various tests to determine the best treatment for your cat or dog. To ensure a proper diagnosis, we first examine your pet, then, our veterinarians will recommend appropriate diagnostic testing. If you’re concerned that something may be wrong with your pet, please call us to schedule a medical assessment.

How Do Veterinarians Use Laboratory Work When Making a Diagnosis?

To ensure a proper diagnosis, we first examine your pet by looking at their eyes, ears, and skin. Then we check their cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal, and skeletal systems for any abnormalities. Our veterinarians will then perform blood and/or urine tests if necessary to check their kidneys, liver, pancreas, and endocrine system. The results of lab testing combined with a thorough history and exam, allow our veterinarians to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan. These are needed together to get a full picture of your pet's health.
